Delhi HC Ruling Strengthens Personality Rights in Deepfake Cases for Indian Celebrities
The Delhi High Court has affirmed that names, images, voices, and personas of celebrities hold commercial value and deserve protection from unauthorized deepfake use. In cases brought forward by Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, the court recognized personality rights as akin to intellectual property, allowing legal recourse for misuse involving defamation, misrepresentation, or privacy violations.
