FTC Permanently Bans Stalkerware Founder from Surveillance Business
The Federal Trade Commission upheld its 2021 ban preventing Scott Zuckerman, founder of the stalkerware app SpyFone/Support King, from ever operating a surveillance business. Despite his petition citing financial hardship from the ban and new restaurant ventures, the FTC denied his request. The original ban followed allegations that his company illegally harvested sensitive user data and failed to secure it during a 2018 data breach.
