Indian IT Firms Significantly Reduce H-1B Dependency Amid U.S. Visa Tightening

Indian software services companies are cutting back sharply on their use of H-1B work visas due to rising costs and stricter U.S. immigration rules. Over the past five years, major firms like TCS, Infosys, HCL, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, and LTIMindtree have reduced visa sponsorships by about 46%. To compensate, they’re hiring more locally in the U.S., nearshoring work, and relying on automation and diverse talent pools to meet client demands.
