US Begins Issuing Nvidia H20 Chip Export Licenses to China, Easing AI Market Access

The U.S. Commerce Department has started granting Nvidia licenses to export its specially crafted H20 AI chips to China, reversing the April ban and unlocking access to a vital market. The chipmaker had warned of up to an $8 billion sales impact from the restrictions, which were softened following CEO Jensen Huang’s meeting with President Trump. Nvidia stressed that the H20 chips contain no backdoors, amid heightened security scrutiny.
