U.S. Condemns French Investigation into X, Flags Threat to Free Speech

U.S. officials sharply criticized France’s criminal investigation into Elon Musk’s social media platform X, which began over allegations that its recommendation algorithm facilitated foreign political interference. The U.S. State Department labeled the probe a threat to free expression, accusing Paris of censoring unpopular voices and attempting to silence discourse. X has refused to comply, calling the inquiry politically motivated & asserting its legal right to protect algorithmic privacy.
