Virtual Reality Pioneer Is Leaving Meta
<p>John Carmack is stepping down from his consulting CTO role at Meta, the virtual reality&nbsp;company he started in 2014. The former CTO has been unhappy with the way things are going at Meta. He wrote an internal departure post for employees that seems critical of Meta&#39;s leadership. He also co-founded id Software, known for games like Doom and Quake, which was purchased by Bethesda in 2009. The studio sued Oculus and Palmer Luckey for allegedly misappropriating trade secrets.</p>
