Project Hug Exposed: South Korea Accuses Google of Anti-Competitive App Store Pacts

South Korea’s antitrust watchdog has accused Google of abusing its dominant Android market position through an internal initiative called "Project Hug." The regulator alleges that from 2019 to 2026, Google offered lucrative rebates on cloud, ads, and YouTube services to major game developers on the condition they prioritize Google Play over local rivals like OneStore. Google faces a potential fine of up to $547 million.
