AI Espionage Alert: US Accuses Chinese Startup of Stealing Frontier Tech

The US government has accused Chinese startup Moonshot AI of secretly distilling Anthropic’s Claude Fable model to build its Kimi K3 system using illegal, stealthy platforms. US officials called this large-scale covert distillation "unacceptable" IP theft and warned of potential sanctions, while also alleging Moonshot illegally used restricted Nvidia GB300 chips in Thailand to train the open-weight model.
