Powering the AI Boom: Alliant Energy Gears Up for a Massive 1 GW Data Center Expansion

Driven by surging artificial intelligence adoption and electrification, Alliant Energy plans to secure approximately 1 gigawatt (GW) of new data center contracts within six months. To support this unprecedented demand and an anticipated 60% surge in peak system load by 2031, the utility has ramped up its four-year capital expenditure forecast to $15.9 billion.
