Centre Approves ₹4,594 crore for Four New Semiconductor Manufacturing Units

The Union Cabinet under the India Semiconductor Mission has approved four new chipmaking projects worth ₹4,594 crore—two in Odisha, one in Andhra Pradesh, and one in Punjab—bringing the total number of approved semiconductor facilities in India to ten. These include silicon-carbide and advanced packaging units, with backing from global players like Intel and Lockheed Martin. The expansion strengthens India’s domestic chip ecosystem and advances the goal of technological self-reliance.
