India-Made iPhones Remain Cheaper in U.S. Despite Trump's 25% Tariff Threat: GTRI Report

According to the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI), manufacturing iPhones in India remains cost-effective even with a proposed 25% U.S. import tariff. Lower labor costs—approximately $230 per month in India versus $2,900 in the U.S.—mean assembly costs are about $30 per device in India, compared to $390 in the U.S. Shifting production to the U.S. could reduce Apple's profit per iPhone from $450 to $60, unless retail prices increase significantly.
