OpenAI to Acquire AI Coding Startup Windsurf for $3 Billion
OpenAI has agreed to acquire Windsurf, an AI-assisted coding tool formerly known as Codeium, for approximately $3 billion, marking its largest acquisition to date. The deal, which has not yet closed, aims to bolster OpenAI's capabilities in the competitive market for AI-driven coding assistants. Windsurf, previously valued at $1.25 billion, had been in talks with investors like General Catalyst and Kleiner Perkins.
