South Korea’s privacy regulator fined wireless carrier KT Corp 53.9 billion won ($37.4 million) after hackers accessed its network through unauthorized micro base stations. The breach exposed phone and device identification numbers for over 16,000 users. Malicious actors intercepted authentication messages to make illegal payments totaling 240 million won before the company caught the intrusion following customer complaints.
