South Korea Smashes Records with $409 Million Coupang Privacy Penalty
South Korea has slapped e-commerce titan Coupang with a historic 625 billion won ($409 million) fine, making it the country's largest-ever data breach penalty.The privacy regulator penalized the company for lax security controls that exposed the personal data of over 37 million users. Additionally, Coupang was cited for illegally tracking and storing user activity on third-party websites. Coupang has strongly pushed back and intends to challenge the ruling in court.
