Social commerce start-up Meesho raises $ 300 mn at $2.1 bn valuation

<p>Bangalore, India based social commerce startup Meesho has raised $300 mn in a round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2. The new round, which also included existing investors Facebook, Prosus Ventures, Shunwei Capital, Venture Highway and Knollwood Investment, values the five-year-old startup at $2.1 bn. The firm operates an online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram and has a network of 13 mn entrepreneurs, mostly women.</p>
