Breakthrough Eye Prosthesis Restores Sight for Macular Degeneration

A Stanford Medicine-led clinical trial demonstrated a new wireless retinal prosthesis, called PRIMA, can restore functional vision for people with advanced age-related macular degeneration. The tiny implanted chip and high-tech glasses allowed 27 out of 32 participants to regain the ability to read, marking the first time an eye prosthesis has restored this level of "form vision."
