Silicon Stalled: Vietnam’s 2027 Chip Plant Target Hits Equipment and Funding Roadblocks

Vietnam’s goal to launch trial production at its first semiconductor manufacturing plant by 2027 is unlikely to be met. Developer Viettel has yet to reach an equipment deal with lithography leader ASML, while funding hurdles and lack of factory-building experience have left the Hanoi site undeveloped—even as Viettel insists the project continues in phases.
