Google Invests in Carbon Capture Gas Plant for Midwest Data Centers

Google signed its first corporate agreement to purchase power from a U.S. gas power plant using Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology. This deal will help fuel its rapidly expanding data centers in the Midwest. The 400-megawatt plant in Illinois, developed by Low Carbon Infrastructure, will capture roughly 90% of its CO2 emissions, supporting the tech giant's push for round-the-clock clean energy.
