Longtime Microsoft Manager Laid Off, Calls it 'Betrayal'

Joe Friend, a 62-year-old product management director, was laid off by Microsoft in May after dedicating two decades across three stints with the company. Friend, who was surprised by the termination, called the move a "betrayal" that disrupted his retirement plans. The veteran manager stated he will not return to a Big Tech role, believing the unspoken promise of job security for high performance no longer holds true.
