Pilot Union Urges FAA to Reject Rainmaker’s Drone-Cloud-Seeding Plan

The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) has urged the FAA to deny Rainmaker Technology’s request for exemption that would allow small drones to carry flares for cloud seeding, citing “extreme safety risk” and lack of proof the plan meets existing safety standards. Rainmaker insists its non-public filings cover risk mitigations, coordination with air traffic control, and controlled operations at altitudes up to 15,000 feet.
