Salesforce Restricts AI Rivals from Indexing Slack Data to Protect User Privacy

Salesforce has updated Slack’s terms of service to prohibit external AI platforms—such as Glean—from indexing, copying, or permanently storing Slack messages via its API. Now, third-party apps can only temporarily access and must delete Slack data afterward, even with user consent. The move aims to safeguard customer information and suggests Salesforce intends to retain Slack data for its own AI initiatives.
